Deltec “Lends A Hand” to help those in need

On Thursday August 20th, the Deltec Cares committee happily presented Lend A Hand Bahamas with a $15,000 donation to help members of communities most affected by the economic fall-out caused by COVID-19. In July, we announced that Deltec Cares had committed to extending its reach to assist families with getting access to necessities in the face of hardships as a result of the pandemic – and these efforts have continued with this latest initiative.

During the month of August, Mr. Kiril Sokoloff of Lyford Cay joined forces with Lend A Hand Bahamas to offer a dollar for dollar donation matching opportunity, up to $50,000. As a result, the Deltec Cares donation will be doubled, to $30,000, in support of the worthy cause.

Lucas Metropulos, Board Chairman of Lend A Hand Bahamas thanked Deltec noting, “I would like to personally thank you for your gift which helps make our work possible during this difficult time as we work hard to address food security. Since March 2020, we have been giving support to thousands in need of food assistance especially the vulnerable including seniors, disabled individuals, and single parents. We are now serving over 48,000 individuals per week in dense downtown communities while also assisting with another 1,200+ individuals in the Western Nassau communities of Adelaide Village, Gambier Village, and Mt. Pleasant. The need unfortunately continues to grow. Your support will be put to immediate use as we continue our weekly efforts to feed those in desperate need.”

The Deltec family looks forward to continuing to help those less fortunate during these difficult times.
