Deltec provides much needed kitchen appliances to Bain & Grants Town Feeding Program

Deltec continues to give support during the pandemic. On Friday, November 6th members of the Deltec Cares team were pleased to deliver much needed kitchen equipment and appliances to Rev. CB Moss’ Bain & Grants Town Feeding Program.

Since 1991 the Bain Grants Town Advancement Association has operated a feeding program for residents of Bain and Grants Town from an increasingly cramped kitchen facility, which was shared with Mt. Olive Baptist Church. The group collaborates with the church in many social programs, including the following:

  • Meals-On-Wheels- where hot meals are delivered to the elderly and the home-bound.
  • Meals for senior citizens who attend and participate in weekly community programs which includes exercise, entertainment and social interaction.
  • Annual Senior Citizens Christmas Party where a sumptuous lunch is served to seniors and the entire community.
  • Breakfast is served for students on the way to school and to the homeless and others in need.

Today, the COVID-19 crisis has placed a tremendous demand on the association to increase capacity to maintain the programs. In hopes of addressing the increase in demand the association launched a special program called “Feeding Bain Grants Town” which provides basic food assistance to the needy. The group has secured the use of an additional kitchen in a nearby building that houses its library.

According to President of the Association, Rev. Dr. C. B. Moss, “The Feeding Bain Grants Town initiative required an expanded food preparation capacity. While we have been fortunate in securing foodstuff, the new kitchen equipment kindly donated by Deltec will permit us to meet the increased demand for food preparation.  Not only will the immediate demands of the residents for prepared food distribution be met during this crisis, but the donated kitchen equipment will be assisting this community which will be needing this help well into the future. “

Rev. Dr. C. B. Moss added, “The officers and members of the Bain Grants Town Advancement Association should again like to thank Deltec for the previous donation of food supplies that you so generously provided to us for distribution to the needy in our community. Now we wish to thank you for the donation of kitchen appliances for our expanded kitchen.”

In July, as a part of an effort to feed families in need, Deltec Cares delivered 100 food packages (valued at $120 each) to the Feeding Program, and so when the Association reached out again for assistance, Deltec was more than happy to lend a hand by purchasing much-needed equipment including: a 15-cu ft chest freezer, microwave/hood combination, 30″ gas range, 25 Cu. ft. side-by-side refrigerator, small appliance protector, refrigerator protector and a flo-jet water system.

Given the economic fall-out caused by the pandemic Deltec Cares, Deltec Bank’s philanthropic arm, originally created to support survivors of nature disasters in The Bahamas has readily extended its reach to assist others less fortunate and plans to continue providing help wherever it can.
